WILLIAM F. JANN was active in many fraternal organizations in Camden. His affiliations included Camden Lodge No. 15, Free and Accepted Masons; Camden Lodge No. 293, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks; Order of Owls; Camden Lodge No. 111, Loyal Order of Moose; and Camden Aerie No. 65, Fraternal Order of Eagles. He worked in sales, lastly as a commission merchant involved in the wholesale fish trade. William F. Jann was born in Pennsylvania on November 19, 1860. He appears in Camden City Directories in 1885 at 206 North 11th Street, working as a salesman, a trade he followed all of his working life. His wife Chrisie had gave birth to a daughter, Alice Jann, around the time of the move to Camden. The family remained at the North 11th Street as late as 1899. The 1901 City Directory shows the Jann family at 1101 Federal Street, where they stayed for a few years. By 1906 William Jann and family had moved to 643 Market Street. The 1910 Census list the family at 309 State Street, while City Directories for 1910. 1911, and 1912 has the at 319 State Street. William F. Jann fell ill in the spring of 1912. He went to Sheboygan, Wisconsin for his health, which failed to improve. He passed away on June 29, 1912. His body was brought home and he was interred at Harleigh Cemetery. |
