The class and Whitman himself are starting to intertwine in my mind. I think that in the end, it would have been near impossible to grow to truly appreciate (and I have lots more I still want to appreciate fully) his works, and learning to analyze/accept/judge Whitman has been similar to an emotional rollercoaster. Some readings I wanted to jump on the back of a harley with him and travel from the East Coast to the West, stopping randomly on back roads to languish under trees next to beautiful, rich fields of vegetation. Others, like the readings for today’s class, has brought me home. I am reluctant to wander with Whitman, I want him to hold my hand and pull me along again. Yet, now it’s my turn to hold his hand and promise that I will keep him alive through me, through LoG. Agreeing with Erin now, where’s my damned Kleenex. :/
