The latest versions of Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms are compatible with the following operating systems and browsers.
Browsers
Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms work with the 2 most recent versions of the following browsers (unless specified otherwise). Make sure cookies and JavaScript are turned on for your browser.
- Chrome
- Firefox
- Windows only: Microsoft Edge
- Mac only: Safari
Other browsers may work, but you might not be able to use all of the features.
Drive for desktop
You can use these operating systems to download Drive for desktop:
- Windows:
- Windows 8 and up
- Windows Server 2012 and up
Check which version of Windows you have.
- Mac:
- macOS Catalina 10.15.7 and up
Check which version of macOS you have.
- macOS Catalina 10.15.7 and up
- Linux:
- Drive for desktop isn't available for Linux. You can use Google Drive on the web.
The Drive for desktop content cache supports these connected file systems:
- APFS for macOS
- HFS+ for macOS
- NTFS for Windows
Drive for desktop doesn’t support network volumes like:
- SMB
- NFS
Drive for desktop creates a virtual Drive, which opens as a FAT file system.
Tip: FAT has file size limitations. The largest possible file for a FAT32 drive is 4 GB.
Important:
- To edit Microsoft Office in real time, use Office 2010 or up.
- Drive for desktop doesn't support:
- Windows ARM-based devices
- Operating systems in beta and may not perform as expected
- In August 2023, support ends for:
- 32-bit Windows Systems
- Windows 8/8.1
- Windows Server 2012
