This will be an unconventional conference, in that it will be interactive and productive rather than simply presentational. The schedule below is therefore loose and subject to the inventiveness or desires of our group.
10a.m.-11 a.m. Arrival/Registration
11:00a.m.-11:15a.m. Welcome
11:15a.m.-12:30 Session 1: Whitmania: Sharing the Whitmans We Found (students will take turns interviewing each other with flipcams to learn about the Whitman that emerged in each geographic location or class or the student’s favorite place/fact/connection to WW + reports back to whole group)
12:30p.m.-1:30p.m. Lunch and Project Reflection/Feedback led by Matt and Claire
1:30p.m.-2:30p.m. Session 2: Birds of a Feather groups (breakout groups focused on particular issues– e.g. gender and sexuality, nature, religion, America, the Levis ads– Have group quickly brainstorm ideas and vote on top 3/4/5 depending on size of group, then disperse to discuss– or produce/film something on the topic)
2:30p.m.-3:00p.m. break and take busses to Mickle Street house
3:00pm Visit to the Walt Whitman House
4pm Visit to the Walt Whitman Grave
5pm Closing Ceremonies
