GAINESVILLE, Fla. and AUSTIN, Texas – Rutgers track and field competed in a pair of historic meets with members traveling to the Florida Relays, which began in 1939, while a trio of jumpers took part in the 95th annual Texas Relays.

"I'm really pleased with this weekend," said
Bobby Farrell, director of track & field and cross country. "We had some really strong performances against great competition. But this team is hungry and unsatisfied. We have a lot more work ahead of us to get to our goals."

In Gainesville,
Jasmine Van Note set a new mark in the shot put, breaking the previous mark she held in the event. Van Note, the school record holder in the indoor, surpassed her previous outdoor mark by more than a foot, recording a throw of 16.67m (54' 8.25") to win the shot put. She also took fourth in the discus with a throw of 47.58m (156' 1").

Chloe Timberg outlasted stiff competition at the Texas Relays, winning the university-elite section of the pole vault. The reigning Big Ten Champion and school record holder, clear the bar at 4.50m (14' 9") to defeat the field. Her mark is No. 1 in the NCAA and ranks seventh in the world.

Also competing at the Texas Relays was
Sincere Robinson and
A'nan Bridgett in the long jump. Robinson placed ninth with a jump of 7.69m (25' 2.75"), while Bridgett placed 10th (7.65m/25' 1.25").

The Scarlet Knights went 2-3 in the men's javelin at the Florida Relays with Steven Coponi finishing second with a throw of 70.47m (231' 2"), while
Joshua Mather placed third with a distance of 68.32m (224' 1").
Konstantinos Bouzakis placed third in the discus as he recorded a throw of 55.79m (183').
